I’m Broken is a multi-level, artist-community-student driven Mental Health Awareness campaign consisting of a Mix Tape & Virtual Art Gallery, Edutainment & Empowerment Youth Tour and a Public Awareness Media Campaign.

This project is produced by Reality Check, a 501c3 non-profit in association with Beats & Lyrics Edutainment FAM, which has a 25+ year history of developing and implementing  edutainment-based programs in schools, youth prisons, community centers and churches, and providing mentorship and support to young people through the arts, technology, and culture.

Utilizing Art Therapy, this project aims to reduce mental health stigmas, encourage public discussion, inspire hope, healing, and understanding for individuals struggling with mental health conditions.

As a total community collaboration with artists, students, mental health professionals, advocates, colleges, etc., this Mix Tape & Virtual Art Gallery will feature songs, poems, visual arts, voice narrations, creative writing, interviews, testimonials, resources, and professional advice and guidance as listeners take an artistic journey through (3) stages of mental illness recovery – 1. Signs & Symptoms 2. Treatment 3. Maintenance & Healthy Lifestyles; going from BROKEN to BR“OK”EN.

We will launch a Mental Health  Awareness Edutainment & Empowerment Youth Tour through schools, community centers, youth prisons, group homes, and churches in which artists, mental health professionals, and community members will have an opportunity to serve as performers, guest speakers, and panelists. With cash & prizes, students will be encouraged to create content from their prospective of mental health to be included in the campaign.

Creative content will be displayed on a city-wide Public Awareness media campaign via social media formats, tv, radio, billboards, public art projects, yard signs, merchandise, clothing, window installations, novelty items, and other creative means of spreading mental health awareness and helping us with our mission to STOP THE STIGMA.
